Rikichi is a peasant farmer from Kanna village, who travels with Kirara to locate the Samurai and bring them to fight for them. Often rash because of his hatred for the bandits, Rikichi is easily one of the more outspoken of the villagers. He blames himself for the loss of his wife, Sanae, who had given herself up to the bandits to save the village. Kambei, after learning of his internal torment promises to rescue Sanae, and Rikichi is eventually reunited with her. He is respectful of the Samurai, apparently idolozing Katsushiro when he stopped a thief from stealing the rice.
